How to export data from Access to Excel


Did you know you can export an Access database to an Excel spreadsheet? In Microsoft Excel, there are features to import or export data from or to an Excel spreadsheet. When exporting data to Excel, Access creates a copy of the selected data and then stores the copied data in a file that can be opened in Microsoft Excel. In Access, you can export tables, queries, forms, and reports, but you cannot export macros or modules to Excel. When exporting forms, reports, or datasheets that contain subforms, subreports, and subdatasheets, only the main form, report, or datasheet is exported.

How to export data from Access to Excel

Follow the steps below to export an Access database to Excel:

  1. Open an Access database file.
  2. Click the External Data tab.
  3. Click the Excel button in the Export group.
  4. Click Browse.
  5. Name the file, choose a folder to put the export file in, and click Save.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click the Close button.
  8. Locate and open the file.

Then close the dialog

Locate the file you exported to Excel and open it (it is an Excel file).
