TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, organized a dinner on Wednesday for representatives of G20 members following the launch of the ministry’s G20 side event program at the Indonesia Kempinski Hotel in Jakarta on April 20.
Minister Uno says the countries’ representatives were all present at the dinner table and the event went smoothly with no mention of the ongoing global geopolitical tension between Russia – a member of the G20 – and other countries members.
He explained that the conversations at the table focused mainly on issues related to tourism and the creative economy, as well as attempts to collectively rejuvenate the economy affected by the post-coronavirus recession.
“Certainly, we want to promote peace and diplomacy. And tourism is an invigorating topic that is universally accepted,” Sandiaga said, Antaranews reported.
Uno says representatives from G20 countries interacted with each other and shared the spirit of rising up amid the pandemic. “Russian [representatives] were present, as well as other members of the G20,” said the minister.
Sandiaga said Indonesia could take the helm of the G20 presidency in a situation full of difficult geopolitical conditions. Sandiaga stressed that Indonesia does not want to stray from the main objective of the G20 presidency, namely Recover Together, Recover Stronger.
He then expressed the hope that other members would contribute their best to succeed Indonesia. G20 presidency.
